1. Can I visit my coconut tree?
Of course! In fact, we strongly encourage such visits. They not only let you see first hand the progress of your coconut tree, but also help the local people in the sometimes remote plantation areas with the various forms of revenue that tourism provides.
2. Do I own the land that the tree is on?
No. Due to the complicated land ownership laws prevalent in the various South Pacific Island nations, it is currently not feasible for us to offer a coconut tree AND land package.
3. What happens to the coconuts from my tree?
When green coconuts have matured, they fall to the ground where they will be picked up by plantation owners and used in a number of ways. These can include food, fuel, and processing to coconut oil.
4. Can I get my coconuts picked and sent to me?
Yes! For a reasonable fee of US$1per coconut plus shipping and handling*, we would be happy to send you a green coconut from your tree. However, you would be responsible for any duties or quarantine charges in your country.
5. Don’t the coconuts that fall from my coconut tree belong to me?
No. Because of the close proximity of the coconut trees to each other, there is no way of knowing from which tree the coconuts have fallen. So, to make things simple for everyone, the coconuts remain your property as long as they are on the tree. Once they fall to the ground naturally, they become the plantation owners’ coconuts or whoever can get their hands on them first!
6. Is my coconut tree insured?
No, insurance coverage on your tree is currently not available.
7. What happens if my coconut tree is damaged? Coconut trees are quite hardy plants. However, we do guarantee that any trees that are damaged by anything other than an act of God/Nature in the first 5 years since planting, will be replaced free of charge. Acts of God/Nature include: Tsunami’s, Cyclones, Hurricanes, Pests.
8. How long will my coconut tree last? Alas, all good things must come to an end, and sadly good things like coconut trees don’t last forever. If it’s lucky, a coconut tree will last about 70-100 years. So as long as it stays healthy, and nothing like an act of God/Nature (see above) happens to it, your coconut tree owning days should be long.
9. Is the ownership of my coconut tree transferable?
Because of our limited resources, we do not offer ownership transfers of coconut trees.
*Fees may vary depending on geographical location of tree
